The feature I would like to see would be a delayed release date. Something like 2020 would be nice and then I won't get car envy for a while

Pros and Cons to each

Being an early adopter of the MK 7 made my choice a bit of a stab in the dark as there was very little around to make a truly informed decision as there was a lot that was quite new and not comparable to previous car/tech

Fortunately it worked out pretty well though at time there was the many moments where you thought others had make the better choices as debates on this and that went on.

Have to choose in next 6 weeks latest so there is no waiting for the MK 8 as an option, but the car will get will have no dilemma attached other than to preference as understand all the tech and options available.

Imagine the MK 8 will be sharper in lines and maybe have some new standard tech like virtual cockpits and some uplift in bhp etc and the nice to haves on this thread, but it will be more an evolution of the MK 7 than the substantial changes from the MK 6 with new chassis so doubt the overall experience between MK 7 and 8 changes too much

Looking more like a Deep Black Pearl Golf R on Pretoria with DSG/DCC at the moment - changing my storm trooper white GTD to Darth Vader R

The Mk6 was just 4 years after the Mk5.

So the Mk7 facelift or Mk7.5 or Mk8 may arrive at the end of this year.

Except, would VW release the Clubsport as the special edition, kinda end of life cycle model for the MK7 only to have the MK8 come out this year before those who have ordered a clubsport would have their cars delivered.  That would be a real kick in the teeth.  waiting patiently for your new car to be delivered only to have it superseded by the Mk8 before you get to drive the now out dated car you ordered off the forecourt.

I suspect at the earliest it would be sometime in 2017 before you see or hear anything of the MK8.  I suspect it will be the run of the mill family cars first, then a year later the GTI and GTD will appear and finally a similar time after that, the Golf R may appear due to popular demand after the MK7's popularity.

It's not a feature, but I'm hoping the new Golf will have more colour options. The A3 facelift will have these new colour options - Ara blue, Cosmic blue, Nano gray, Tango red and Vegas yellow.

That makes total sense. Though there are a lot of articles which are saying that the facelift will be this year.

Here is an article which talks about the Golf facelift and the Clubsport...

http://www.cars.co.za/motoring_news/vw-golf-gti-clubsport--facelift-coming-updated-with-pricing/42156/#.VxXN_2b2Zdg

"Volkswagen looks set to introduce a facelifted Golf 7 in Europe this year and will also unveil the production version of the Golf R400 concept.

Before you get too excited, though, Volkswagen South Africa has not yet confirmed that these developments will have an impact on the local market in 2016… but has, however, committed to launching the Golf GTI Clubsport, probably around mid-year."

It may not make sense but it looks like VW are planning on doing both.
