GTD with 4 motion, Bi-turbo and active dash display.

Defiantly this  and a R I can afford to buy and run

I'll kick this off.

Unique front seats. Ones with moulded headrests and side bolsters would be nice.
Ability to spec 4Motion. Give the customer choice.
More choice in unique colours for the performance Golfs. To enhance its specialness.
Head up display (almost certain this will be an option on Mk8).
Radar sensor integrated into grill more discreetly.

Let's hope VW take note

Great thread.

I agree with all your wish list.
Seats more like the mk5 GTI would be better than the mk7 ones, more prominent bolsters and a proper moulded in headrest.
Some much more appealing and less dowdy colours would be great.
Head up display would be nice, the fully digital dashes worry me slightly as the whole thing would go blank if we had problems like some of the MIB II people seem to be getting with blank screens.
And yes, that radar is pretty ugly and I'm sure there are more aesthetic ways of integrating it without it costing a bomb at production stage.

I'll echo the 4wd bi-turbo wish but a 20 speed DSG would be the bottom of my wish list as the thing would just be swapping cogs and stuttering like a cartoon character. It'd spend more time swapping cogs than it would actually in a gear!

I'll add: some nicer alloys (for the GTI model as standard) than the swastika monzas of the mk7.
Oy Mr Ex, leave my Austins alone, I love em'

I don't dislike the style of them, they're just such a pig to clean properly round the back with that channel behind the spokes.
Oh and they need spacers to sit them properly in the arch.

You're not wrong about that channel actually.
I might look at spacers shortly. Any recommendations?

I went for some Sparco ones as I liked the idea that they used the brake disc screw to attach to the disc/hub making it easy to locate the bolts.
Otherwise go for a quality make such as Eibach, H&R or Forge as examples rather than cheap eBay ones that might not be machined as well or worse still the spigot might not be very strong.
10mm front and 15mm rear are popular sizes but I went for 12mm and 16mm.

Some great replies. Cheers guys.

The one I missed came from ajmoir36 about VW adding a setting in between D and S on the DSG box. I think I've mentioned on here many moons ago about VW addressing the DSG box so it's less of a jump between D and S. At the moment it's just too harsh. D covers everyday driving and S is red line madness holding onto revs too long (which is fine on occasions). VW should have done it with D, S and S+ (or give us a custom setting).

I wonder if the Mk8 will get the rumoured 10 cog DSG? If its smoother and offers better mpg and lower co2 I'm all for it (despite what the DSG haters say).

Exonian: Personally I love the third reich Austin alloys (check my avatar)

I'd like to see less, much less. Just a proper car not a 4 wheeled laptop. Then they can use any savings to screw things together a bit better. Perhaps more wheel alternatives and a bit of weight saving wouldn't go amiss.

I would like dimming external mirrors.

The channel is dead easy clean provided you have the right tool. Smallest of the wheel woolies does it perfectly.

I've got wheel woolies and the small one is nigh on useless for wheels. Pretty good on honeycomb grill though
