Cant see it. Unless the earth isnt on the rocker or youve managed somehow to trap a wire.
Take the breather of. Real longshot but it eliminates that.

Maybe coilpack loom plug is loose and underload its connecting, Disconnecting.

did think about the plug.. is there anyway of testing it with a multi meter? do you know much about that that pcv valve cus i brought a cheap set of breather hoses and it came with a pcv valve so i changed them all but the valve was faulty,, was getting random misfires so put original valve back in now just cylinder 4 could that of caused any more hassle??? sorry for all the long posts but its the family car F****D without it

If you take the pvc valve out then all the breathing system will vent to air.
On a s3 I did I replaced all the breathing sytem with silicone piping and kept the pvc valve in place. Nit that it helps you alot.
The metal clips should be down firm.
(with out looking at my 20vt engine thats at the workshop) im sure that the loom runs.close to the rocker into the main loom so you may have trapped the wire.
Vag com will test if there getting the correct current throufh the plugs. When thw cars not running am sure theres no current.

Have you checked the spring inside the coil pack can/is make contact with the spark plug, take it off and look inside (sounds daft but a mate of mine was messing with his loads and part of the spring broke off and it wasn't making a connection)
if you have checked the coil packs and the misfire doesn't move then you can rule them out (except for the above)
plugs checked and same thing.

The only thing I could thing next would be the wiring harness to the number 4 coil pack, its an easy fix, just get a plug online (or on here if someone breaking) and solder the new one on.

A pic might still be useful in case there is something we can see you aren't aware of

ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)
