No way is that from a stone chip! Another member on here had a blister on their lower sill and that was sorted under warranty. It was p3asa (Stevie) if I recall. He may have some advice for you.
Yeah it was myself Bec with the GTD. Its a bit different to dfsGTD's though as I noticed mine after its first wash.
Even although I got the car from Gillingham I took it to my local Arnold Clark (spit) and they took pictures of it and sent them to head office. Who agreed it was a paint defect.
@dfsGTD as others have said there is no way that is a stone chip. A stone chip would have broken the surface of the paint not created a swelling underneath it. Its a bit late now but I would have held out until you got a result. If your local VW dealer wasn't playing ball you should have taken it elsewhere. But I can't understand why they didn't at least contact head office as that would have had to be given the ok from them for your dealer to get paid from VW.

All Volkswagen passenger cars are provided with a warranty for a period of 3 years from the date of first registration against any manufacturing defects with the paintwork.The only preconditions are:
The defect must be reported to a member of the Volkswagen Authorised Repairer network as soon as it is discovered. This must of course be within the warranty period.
The defect must not be due to external influences such as accident damage, climatic, thermal, chemical or industrial pollution, insufficient care or maintenance. This will be determined by the member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network at the time of inspection.
Body protection warranty
All current Volkswagen vehicles are fully protected during manufacture against through corrosion for 12 years from the date of first registration.Hopefully you got it repaired by a VW approved bodyshop or you may run into problems further down the line if anything starts to come through the paintwork or you try to make another claim.
