G60 prices
« on: 25 March 2016, 08:35 »
Hi there,

I am new to the forum however in my search for a GTI Mk1 I have come across a mint left hand G60 in factory purpule and recaro seats (factory option?). I think it may be reasonably priced at 10 k but have no idea and all internet searches have given me no indication of current prices?

Can anyone help?

Also would this be a better investment than a mk1 campaign ?

Thanks fellas

Sion

Due to the rarity good examples are becoming rare so prices are increasing. If you do go and look at it ask when the supercharger was last serviced/rebuilt.

G60s are rare enough that it is possible that there is only one on the market at any one time (certainly in good nick).

So I suppose 10k is the going rate. Would you be happy to part with 10k for a mint G60? If yes, go buy it
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

Being purple are you sure it's not an Edition One?

I paid £7800 back in January for a Golf G60 Edition Blue. It was on at £10k. I looked for around 7-8 months to find a good one.

For yours I guess you can haggle a bit - depends if it needs work doing to it. For me the sunroof didn't work, headlining was droopy, and a few other niggles but nothing too major. As others have said finding out when the charger was last serviced is most important.

Yep the prices are defiantly on the up as you don't see them on sale too often, and 10k for a good original example does sound about right in recent searches. The price really does depend on many factors such as millage, documented service history, and weather it is original or not. Expect to pay top dollar for an nice, clean original example.

Always check and make sure it is a factory G60, as there are many converted G60's about.

Check for charger history, but don't let it put you off if it hasn't been done, as there are quite a few places about that do rebuilds for about 350 quid. Just negotiate harder if it hasn't been done.

Thanks everyone - what a dilema!

He has a mk1 GTI Campaign at 133,000 miles which has had a painjob but a lot of overspray on the underneath but is generally sound and wants £6,800 for it.

Then he showed me the G60 which was immaculate appart from some rust around the rear windscreen wiper. This thing really was lovely with about 200 k on the clock (km). As mentioned he wants 10k for it.......I have looked around and it could well be an Edition 1, how can I tell if it is a geniuine G60 and if its an Edition 1?

The big question is which one ? Or both and really blow the bank apart and get a divorce??

Cheers again everyone,

Sion
