New Tiguan keys dates
« on: 22 March 2016, 20:47 »
Hope you guys don't mind me putting this on here but thought there might be some people interested.

VW0390-16

The launch of the new Tiguan is almost upon us – and we’re ready to announce the schedule for bringing this fantastic product to your customers.

Here are the dates you need to know:

24 March   Features and style section for new Tiguan goes live on Volkswagen.co.uk and the site announces that we’ll be open for orders on 5 April

1 April   Full details available via Desktop, including pricing and specifications

5 April   New Tiguan opens for orders

From 23 May   Retailers receive three new Tiguan launch vehicles

1 June   Start of sales

Excitement around the new Tiguan is already building among press and motorists. Our press trip to Sweden gave UK journalists the chance to put the new Tiguan’s 4Motion Active Control through its paces, while a panel of What Car? magazine readers went to Wolfsburg to experience the new Tiguan up close.

A new Tig might just tempt me out of my Passat. I just need to muster up the enthusiasm to go to the dealers. If only one would bring one to me...
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Thanks for the info Evo. Helpful as ever.

I'm quite tempted by this new Tiguan. I've had years and years and years of hackbacks I might fancy a change next time. But I'll need to see one in the flesh first. The concept version, R-Line in white, looked really nice IMO.

Interested in the bi-turbo or GTE versions. As McMaddy says pricing will be pivotal. If VW continue their trend for pricing their cars premium, when they're not quite premium, I'll be a quite annoyed. With the emission scandal still fresh in people's minds VW would do well to price this Tiguan keenly. Bet they don't though.
Current: BMW M140i / ZF8 / 5 DR
Past: MK7 GTI / DSG / WHITE / 5 DR

The R Line is one of my 4 cars choosing from but will have to at least sit in the new model if not the R Line as never  driven SUV before so driving position, interior will all be factors that sway though from reviews it does seem to be a nice place to be

Though bought the GTD blind as early purchaser so may have to take a punt.

Had real dislike for the previous Tiguan and interior but this looks very much MK 7 quality especially in R Line.

Never had anything but hatch/saloon its the car feel most comfortable in, but the Tiguan tempts me as it does look great in R Line specification and with decent interior to match. Driving reviews have been positive to

Would personally go for the GTD engine choice as if performance was the main driver I would be choosing the GTI/R So the main driver for choosing a Tiguan would be more seeking a refined SUV experience/Golf experience have now.

We've downsized to one car because my GTI wasn't getting used and those of you that have been here a while won't be surprised to hear that we'll be ordering a new Tiguan! :embarrassed:
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

I've got the current tiguan in r line form on a 65 plate and it's much much better than the 2011 one i had before the golf gtd. I'm not going to be an early adopter with the new tiguan but 18 months to 2 years down the line I'll be looking. New tiguan is supposed to be getting the 240bhp diesel engine in it so will be looking at that.

Thanks for the info evo.

I went to Geneva a few weeks ago to specifically to see the new Tiguan and it is a quality piece of kit. It has some looks of a Q5 IMO.

The ride quality/handling on my current R-Line isn't anywhere near such as a mk7 GTD but hopefully that's been sorted with the body lowering. From looking at the brochures from other countries, it seems that the bi turbo won't be available at launch and the (IIRC) GTE will be released later in the year.

It's a shame that the cars won't be available 'in the flesh' until late May to test drive but what's another few months of waiting in the great scheme of things!

Personally I don't think that the 240PS engine is necessary in a car like this. You sit up higher, have a much better viewpoint and can happily waft along in a relaxed manor. This chassis dynamics of a taller car don't allow it to corner like a hatch or saloon car, unless it's uncomfortably firm, so you end up pointing and squirting when trying to make progress.

It's internal space and towing capabilities that interest me, more that outright pace.
