We went for a straight forward 2 year lease based on 6 plus 23. 5000 Mpa. Free road tax for 2 years.

No additional fees at all.

The car is a standard 5 door Golf GTI with the only extra being Deep Pearl Black Paint. Delivery very soon.

We are £241.80 per month inc VAT and £1450.80 upfront so add it all up and divide by 24 and you get £292.18 per month for two years.

I thought it was a good deal but you may have done better. Would love to hear.

We jumped straight in cash wife didn't want pcp or finance as you can see from the spec it's about everything you can chuck at a gti didn't bother with the performance pack 220 bhp is quite enough lol phoned a few dealers told em what I wanted to pay JCT600 wouldn't move from £31.000 unless pcp pushing that big time and that was only a third of the extras finished up going with the VW dealer Hayselden of Barnsley where wife's scirocco came from excellent customer service no quibles no presssure at all so no trade in just straight cash she's on her way all in £28.000 list price was £32.240 inc 2yr servicing well chuffed with the price after looking round at pre reg or ex demos

Car - '65 plate Golf R - 5 door DSG, DBP, 19" Pretoria, DCC, Vienna leather, Keyless, Tech Pack (Dynaudio+ DNS Pro), Rear view camera, HBA - Fantastic car!  No issus thus far - 6 months into ownership.

Ordered -  via Drivethedeal from JCB Medway - buying totally process pain free - dealership excellent, pick up excellent - 8 month wait not so excellent but a fading memory now.

Purchase method - bought outright with cash - paid £33,992 after discount.  List price was £38,600 (thereabouts)

Trade-in - sold my Mk6 GTI privately for £15,500 cash.

2015 15 plate GTI. Unlike many others, took the impatient route and bought as an ex-demo. Tornado red, 19" Santiagos, PP and nav (not standard at the time). 90 days old, 1509 miles on the clock (one careless owner!) and after the £500 deposit contribution paid £23750 including 3 years servicing. Finance cleared now. Was a good deal at the time, dtd were about £750 more for the same spec but as I said, minimal waiting and once driven I had to have it!

Oddly, I paid near enough the same in 2003 for my then new Audi A4! If I keep the GTI 12 years, I wonder what I'll be buying for around £24k in 2027? Will I still be driving? Will I still have the same teeth??! Will some hair have grown back?

2015 65 plate GTD manual in TR. It's a completely standard car, but that gives a lot these days (nav, ACC, keyless, etc). Pre-reg VW DasWelt car with less than 50miles on clock. Bought from Arnold Clark VW in Glasgow. It seems all VW dealers in central Scotland are Arnold Clark, so didn't have a choice of company. I was looking at others from further away on VW DasWelt site, but for the age/price there wasn't many that came close to this one.

Cash price was £23450. I had my old fiesta to put in, which they gave me £3750 for (after talking them up from £3500) and £6500 cash. Remainder on finance (HP) which works out at £271 a month for 5yrs including 2yrs servicing.

5yrs is a long time I know, but I did a huge jump up from the Fiesta, and as its HP the car will be mine at the end of it. I also needed to keep the payments down as low as possible. Hoping to pay it off a year early as well. I figure (by checking the value of a 5yr old GTD) it should be roughly worth the deposit (cash + trade in) that I put in by the end of the 5yrs, so can then do the same again.

I think I'm quite happy with the deal I got, given the amount of cash + trade in that I had to put into it, guess it maybe could have been a bit better, but not by much.

Obviously Arnold Clark tried to sell me their gap insurance, but it was going to work out at double the cost of ALA, and for a year's less cover!

I wasn't sure what the actual cost of my car was as I was going by monthlies plus out of the 3 or 4 separate bits of finance papers I was given, the cost was worked out different each time. Sometimes the Loyalty was included as the deposit and other times the PCP discount was included as the deposit.  All very weird.

Anyway the final figure from VW direct rather than the dealer was £23,489 which looks to match drivethedeal

Car is a 2015 (65) 5 Door GTi in Carbon Steel Grey, colour and 5 doors being the only extras so to speak. As many others used the DTD price at the time as a bench mark and then placed a spec on Car Wow. Inchscape  VW at Bolton came back as the cheapest. Organised a test drive on one of the 2nd hand MK7 GTi's they had on the forecourt and went a bartering. Was open minded to some extent on colour so when they said they had a 5dr CSG standard car on order for mid Nov 15 delivery it suited me down to the ground. My company car hire ended mid November and they matched DTD price. Cant fault Chris or VW at Bolton, no hassle, no pressure.

Paid £23800 for the car after the £1250 PCP contribution against a list price of £28700.

Love the car to bits - couldn't be happier with it.
Current - MkVii 5Dr GTI Carbon Grey Manual.
Previously at various times- MkiV 2002 V6 4Motion Manual Black, Pug 205 1989 1.6 GTi Red Manual, Escort RS Turbo, 2006 RX-8 blue, 2009 A5 Cab Auto.
