lumpy idling

i ve got a problem with the idling on my 16v its very lumpy theres no real change in revs and it doesnt misfire any where in the rev range it just vibrates the car at around 1000 revs i have tried adjusting the tickover but it still does it wherever i set it any ideas

if theres no misfire then maybe for some reason the timing could be slightly out?, i know the last few weeks as the weathers got colder my old 8v has started being a bit pants at starting when its cold takes a few turns then its lumpy maybe even stalling till its warm!, gonna strip and clean every thing this weekend and see if any better, i reckon its my cold start valve? not sure about yours but id get your timing checked if its not misfiring, if it fires at the slightly wrong time it will run rough and will be underpowered

but you need the special tool to get at it, or a 12 long 3mm allen key!!

vr6 does like his colourtune doesn't he. I never had much success with it myself. I bought a CO analyser in the end. Expensive but over the years its proved very useful and accurate.

is this a new thing? majority of 16v I've seen have always had lumpy idling. i've never seen one that is entirely smooth.

I got a co tester too. I find the colortune very useful for adjustable systems, as the co tester is a bit hit and miss (accurate to 0.5%).

Yeah, just the thing if yer colour blind..............

   A CO meter is much more accurate than some glass spark plug devised in '72 for use on Triumph Heralds.
