Value this scirocco for me! 2010/DSG/TDI 140
« on: 17 March 2016, 23:53 »
Hi,

Going to look at a diesel scirocco tomorrow, was just wondering what you guys think it's worth, and what I should offer, also any tips on what to look for etc etc, (I'm quite bad at buying cars and not waiting for other ones to come along)

Silver
4 owners... < should I be worried about this?
62k on clock (some history at dealer some independant) ( every 10k oil changes )
2010
2.0 TDI 140bhp
DSG ( DSG service done at 38k )

Heated black leather
Panoramic roof
Sat Nav (RNS510)

He has it up for £10,000 What shall I offer him, I doubt it's worth 10k, I've seen better models closer to 9,500, I doubt he'd take 9?

This is the info I have, from the limited iphone pics, it looks okay.
I cant get insured on the better 170bhp ones, so cant look at those anyway, even though they are more likely to have xenons!

It's a private listing, never bought private before so don't really know what to do, any checklists or anything?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks!

MK6 GTi - Black - DSG - 18' Monza shadow - Luxury Pack - Convenience pack - Park assist - Xenons - RNS510 - Adaptive chassis control - Dynaudio - Bluetooth - Reverse camera - front/rear sensors --mods-- Evoms Intake - Eurojet/stasis Turboback Catless 3" exhaust

true, but I cant get insured on the 170 models, and I'm counting on the seller not knowing this, so I can get him down, as it has decent spec, and nice colour etc. seems that he's put it on for a higher price, and it's been around for a while, might work in my favour

Checklist:
Make sure the car is cold; preferably left overnight.
When you start the car listen for any rattling noise from the clutch, if there is a noise and it goes away when you dip the clutch the clutch and DMF will need replacing - £1,000k
Check for any heavy white mayo under the oil filler cap. It is likely there will be a little if its not done the miles.
If you hear a sound like a Police siren or owl the turbo is on the way out.

Cant think of any others!

Do you have a friend with VCDS to run a scan?

Good points above apart from the clutch; going to be hard to dip it on a DSG lol

Test the sunroof operates properly; the runners need cleaning and greasing every so often to ensure it runs smoothly

Turn off the stereo on the test drive and listen for any knocks or rattles
Check how much life is left on the brake pads

Basically take your time looking around it. If something doesn't feel right then walk away

I should start at 9K if you are really keen and if all above is a clean sheet. When is it due a belt change? Usually recommend a water pump change at the same time. I have a petrol 2011 Scirocco with less miles recently valued as thinking of selling and private sale is valued at about 10k.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

See what you mean, it's easy to get the 140 model and remap/box. It does have a great spec! As the rest said check over carefully.

Well, went to see it.
Buyer didn't wanna budge at all. He paid 13k for it from vw last year, vw was one of the owners and 2 women before hand so that was fine I was worried about too many owners
Mileage checked out
All servicing was perfect of dsg etc
CamBelt was done at vw 10k ago, and bonus that the mechatronics on the gearbox was done by vw under Warrenty too! So that saves me money as my dsg mech unit on my gti is knackered I think.
Cars properly mint got him down to 9,780 in the end which I think is fair, seeing as it's had everything that needs doing done, and the dsg even sitting cold after 2-3 days was buttery smooth. Very pleased!
