Week 22/16 Changes
« on: 17 March 2016, 07:36 »
Just seen this over at Motortalk.de, and thought I'd post up here.

Here is a supposed list of changes coming for post build week 22/16.

Elimination of AM Radio band (all models)

Discontinuation of colour Sunset Red (all models) - not sure if we got this in the UK ?

Elimination of Blue brake calipers (guess that is for the GTE) ?

Discontinuation of colour Crypto Steel Grey ( I hope that's not Carbon Steel Grey in UK talk) ?

Elimination of the lock facility for the glovebox.

Elimination 18" Serron Alloy wheel

Elimination driving profile selection and DCC for 81kW TDI

All in all doesn't seem too major (unless anyone knows otherwise), so looks like VW is either saving up the major changes for the facelift rumored to be coming late 2016, or for the new MK8 ?

Also, now "apparently" confirmed by VW that in November / December, the MIB III with Gesture control and home screen, larger display in the DP Pro will surface, as can be seen on the below youtube video

Wow they must be desperate to cut down the cost. Can't believe they are stingy with trivial things like glovebox lock or painted calipers

Cutting costs at the same time as hiking the prices up well in excess of inflation, all while trying to regain the trust of consumers after NOx-gate...VW really don't know how to entice new customers, they're just relying on milking the blind VW faithful to shore up sales.

Unless the MK8 is ridiculously good (unlikely to be much more than a facelift) i'll probably get something else next time. VW have been chasing Audi prices very closely since the MK6 Golf came out, but if the residuals are weakening, those high RRPs don't make much sense. That's a shame, because the MK7 is a very good car, most people expect more equipment these days, not less.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Seriously looking at a Cupra for my next car. VW have lost the plot!
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

Gti mk7 on order we looked at the Cupra Fr to be honest it is a nice clean looking car from the outside but the interior really let's it's down lots of cheap looking plastic especially the door panels and trim was a let down for the high prices being offered

Very subtle changes, as noted removing the locking glovebox seems a bit mean.

Now the wife's got the R and I've got my Passat and Mk2 GTi 16v we have a full set of VWs and, therefore, presumably class as "the blind faithful".
Every time I come to change I do look at other stuff. I was very close to buying a Mazda instead of the Passat. I also wanted her to look at the 135i but in the end we both ended up at VW's door.
Sometimes I hate myself for this, especially as I've had two stupendously unreliable Golf Mk4s and a Mk6 GTi with the self combusting chain tensioner in my ownership history - they really on't deserve my loyalty.
The best non-VW we've ever had was the wife's 123d convertible. Faultlessly reliable, excellent dealer and we got an excellent price for it when we sold it - I just thought the ride on 35 rubber was very fidgety and the run flats were ridiculously expensive. Still, I reckon BMW are the only ones likely to get my money over a VW, especially as I'm now paying BMW money for my VWs - I might as well get the real thing!!

Yes we do - or did!!

And the Mk VII is the only small car that gets a decent light interior - Shetland Grey.  All the others inc Audi get a coal mine with a splodge of light!
