Newbie and new order

Newbie here so apologies for dumb questions.

Im from Wimborne in Dorset and just ordered a Mk 7 GTi in white petrol manual. I didn't go for the performance pack as I'm not a hardcore hot hatch driving enthusiast. Went for the sunroof (although wish it created a black roof all the way over) and privacy glass and service pack only options as wanted to keep the monthly below £250 as its a second car. I got a reasonable 12% discount plus the 1.25k deposit contribution from Breeze VW in Poole so was happy with that.

Attracted to the GTI as a replacement to my m sport F20 1 series which is by far the most uncomfortable car I have ever owned and a bit too boy racer looking for my tastes. Its a second car in our family (we have a RRE auto for family life) so this is for whichever of my wife or I does not have the kids to commute to work in but still needs the room In case kids do end up in it (also have two labs). The old marketing pull of practicality plus reasonable performance and classy reputation attracts me. I had golfs in past but never GTI (although had a 1.9 205 gti back in the day) and I like the understated style so i won't be doing any modifications (i have to visit Waitrose with my wife in it you know!).

Been given a 16 week order time- any chance it may come quicker?

Anyone know when its going to be replaced by a mk 8? Don't want to be superseded a year in. Dealer tells me 2019 at earliest but seems a long gap from the launch of the 7?

Any other option considered as must have?

How do you get the part leather, tartan, alcantara combination. I just can't select it on the configurator and dealer is saying not available, yet its pictures all over the net as existing including on legit UK car review sites such as auto express?

Sounds like you have made a good choice in colour and sunroof!  Im new on here too (was on here a while ago as I had a mk5 gti but regretfully sold that last year!).  I have a Tornado Red GTI 5 door manual with performance pack and the 19s as options on order at them moment.  Make sure you get the order number from the dealer then you can track the build!  I ordered mine at the end of February and have a confirmed build week 15 which is April 11th.  Delivery was est at 31st May when I ordered but looks likely to be mid May now so can't wait!!

In terms of seats, as far as Im aware the only 2 options on the GTI are the standard cloth or the Vienna leather.  The Alcantara part I believe is an option in Ireland and probably elsewhere but not the UK!

Thanks for the advice. I have just had my build week confirmed as WC 18th April so Im guessing May delivery?

Seems to be 4 weeks ish from build but I think this is dependant on when it catches the boat!
