I would have thought the 5 door would be more popular but what do I know

Yeah 5-door is more desirable, always has been with Golfs. But there is still a market out there for 3-doors...

What price have you got it up for??

A car will sell if it's priced right, took me 30 mins to sell my 2009 BMW 330i M Sport convertible on EBay, I was gobsmacked and for £3500 more than the trade in offers I was getting

Just need the right buyer to come along. I love my 3 door but many prefer the 5.

It's one of those things that if you're selling the trade will say no one wants those so we can only make you a low offer. But if you want to buy one the trader will say these are rare so we have to ask a higher price.

Got a new VW golf on order

The used car market is in utter turmoil. Mainly down to easily available great deals on new cars.

However a well presented car at a competive price should get some interest. So make sure that within maybe 100 miles your car is the most competively priced. Of course if it has particular features that make it a bit special above the rest you might be able to ask a bit more.

When i sold my 2013 GTD on Autotrader i literally had it listed less than a day and got £200 less than my asking price. It is by far the quickest i have sold a car!

Same here - sold my GTD 3-door on Autotrader for 250 below asking last week. Had calls and texts every day for a week about it... best response I have ever had to an Autotrader ad.

Out of interest for you guys who have recently sold yours, having not sold a car privately for a good few years myself, were most of the calls from potential buyers private individuals or trade?
