EGR valve

Once again egr valve problems luckily I have a good mechanic, an he knows them like back of his hand says it will cost £200, sounds Cheap compared! But keep running it until it gets to bad! WHY are VW not recalling an doing this ! Getting fed up with them, I bought it as they are meant to one the most reliable ! I look after mine but think it will be my last Vw an get the wife to get rid of hers aswell, I feel let down VW !! Golf 2.0gt Tdi 09 an polo 1.2tsi 65 owner!! Also my turbo went on my Passat last time !! 😩😩😩

I had a Mondeo ST TDCI that used to eat EGR valves so I removed it completely and fitted a blanking plate.  The car performed so much better and it finally shut the Engine Management Light up!  Is that not an option on the Golf or will removing it screw up the MOT?
