CarNet down
« on: 01 March 2016, 12:58 »
So, CarNet is down which means I cannot register CarNet to be able to use the guide and inform and app connect services when I collect my new car tonight. Kind of annoying.

Looking into this further, it's been down since at least mid Feb. How on earth it can take VW over 2 weeks to fix a simple activation process is beyond me. We're not talking rocket science here. Furthermore, VW UK are completely helpless and can't provide any update as to when this will be fixed. All they do is say it's with VW in Germany & India yet I'm not able to contact anyone there for an update or to take this further. So, I have paid for a service which I cannot receive. If this were broadband, the service provider would be automatically refunding me for the period where the service was not available.

Apparently CarNet services are still available to those people who already have CarNet activated and working in their cars. So why can't VW sort out a simple activation script or find out an alternative manual method of activating it?! Absolutely bonkers.

I would be more interested in enjoying the drive. Turning on my air con remotely isn't quite so exciting.

How much did you pay for Car-Net?

Of course I'm looking forward to the drive

It's more the AppConnect that I was looking forward to. I paid £89 which is basically the standard £100 less the 11% discount I got on the vehicle sale which he applied to all extras.

Yes, if you're already registered. I've just tried again and can't get past the activation process.

Yep that is the case.  Just connect your phone via USB cable.  No registration required for App-connect - not connected to Car-net, which I've never yet managed to get up and running, despite registering successfully!!!
