I rather like the Austins and yes, the Santiagos are a bit fiddly to clean. You could also consider dropping the DCC too in that case?

RE: Alloys - Never had to replace the tyres on the 18s as I changed to 19" BSS SR alloys with 235/35R19 tyres.

I was already lowered on Eibach Sportlines and didn't really notice a massive difference in ride quality. Whilst mine are considered the 'Budget BBS' wheel, I still got wheels and tyres all sorted for around £1200 so for that little bit more than the OEM option you've still got nicer looking wheels.

Alternatively get them to swap your alloys off your GTD onto the GTI lol.

Congrats Mr N!

I ran two sets of aftermarket 19's on my GTI and although the ride was a bit more knobbly it wasn't uncomfortable, especially when you consider it's a sports hatch - I'd say the ride on 19's was better than some 'rival hatches'. Depends on how fussy you are.

Can't comment on the Nav systems - I had the MIB I Discover nav and it was £700 of wasted money.
The II looks much better and as I use the radio 99% of the time I've never even plugged my phone into the system to access music. I've never tried Dynaudio in the mk7 as I don't like shaking everyone's windows and do like to converse in the car! But if Dynaudio is your thing then you'd be mad not to go for the Tech Pack.

Looking at Ms B's blue trainer dials there does make me wonder if the extra dials function is sat hiding in the system somewhere on MIB II waiting to be unlocked via VCDS.

Hi Sootchucker

Couple of specifics you asked about.

I have MIB II (Nav Pro ) there is no Sim card slot and Car-Net is by tethering ( WLan Hotspot )
This works fine using my iPhone 6s.
