take off the distributor cap and have a look how many cut-outs are in the metal disc?

A 2e dizzy is definatly the right one! I was going to suggest that you may have the timing out by 180 degrees, but if the garage timed it correctly then I suppose you can rule that out (if you trust the garage enough). You can check if each HT lead is firing if you remove it from the plug (1@ a time) and earth it to the engine whilst you get someone to turn over the ignition. Also, have you done anything else whilst you've had the engine out, ie fit a new clutch?

Have a look in the maintenance section and you'll find a "how to tune your 8v digifant" guide. Now that you've got it running you can time it correctly.

Check the live wire to the starter as this can sometimes work its-self loose, and make sure you have a good earth too. You can run a wire from the positive on the battery to the live on the starter and get someone to turn the ignition. If it cranks better you know you have a dodgy connection. Likewise with the earth, run a wire from the earth on the starter to the chassis, again if it cranks better you know the earth is bad. If neither make a difference you may have a dodgy starter relay.
