« on: 21 February 2016, 10:52 »
Hi all
If I buy a hatch with a 3rd brake light with all the wiring is it just plug and play?

Guess your non-3rd light body won't have the wiring into tailgate. But should not be too difficult to retrofit.

No, it won't be plug and play but pretty close.

What about all those extra empty plug sockets in the tail lights?

It's 2 wires.1 positive and 1 negative.

All you need to do is earth one and connect the other to the live that goes to either of your rear brake lights.

It will make no difference which wire gets earthed or which goes to the live as the third brake light will be "stand alone" anyway.

Did not think of that thanks for your insight cheers
