Alarms?

Short of trying to break into my own car...what is the easiest way to tell if my car is fitted with an alarm?

It has central locking and the horn chirps when locking or unlocking. The small red LED beside the drivers side door lock button pulses when the car is locked, but there seems to be no other type of indicator, apart from the one on the radio.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

leave bonnet catch or boot slightly open then lock car leave a couple of mins then open bonnet or boot but car has factory  immobilizer as well

Well, this IS Bulgaria...new wishbones, drop links, ball joints, struts, shocks bushes etc are pretty thin on the ground over here!

VW dealers sell new cars, NOT spare parts! Unless you want to pay through the nose for express freight, the average wait for bits is around eight days...and then they can be fitted.

I very recently aquired the service books (in English) for mine, plus an original CD player via Ebay UK. Both the sellers were very good and dispatched on the same day...I was able to follow via tracking numbers and everything arrived 9 days later. I'm quite used to this as I use the system very often and have done for the last ten years or so. Doesn't matter which company you use...the price might vary, but the time interval is very similar.

we just order bits then collect ten mins later or order by post get them next day

We do the same...difference being the distance. Stuff I need come from the UK, US or sometimes Western Europe and involve couriers who are not always noted for their speed.

Royal mail sends stuff to me via Holland, Hungary and Romania...between 8 and 10 working days.

Update...still waiting for the shocks/struts to arrive form the UK, even though I sprung for express delivery...ordered last Thursday morning, due to land on Wednesday. In the meantime, Haldex system serviced, MOT done (passed with no advisories)...the waiting goes on.

I guess, living on a little island, you have certain advantages.

It's a disadvantage with couriers living where I do, most of them don't want to deliver over here

Anyways look at your rear interior lights, if you have an alarm they will have motion sensors built into them
