I've been using this for the past 3 years. It works perfectly on low profile cars as well. Bought it for my Megane which was "low-ridda", much lower than GTI.

Comes in a nice plastic case, but it's quite heavy.

Thanks for that, just ordered it as it seems ideal and a good price.

Think mine is an Arcam from Costco and aluminium so a bit lighter, had a couple of years and had no issues

I think the SGS one I've ordered will do the job perfectly and at a reasonable price.
Anything is better than the supplied jack with the knuckle destroying crank handle

Also - as my work internet is so slow and I can't fully view the links above...

If any of them have the "metal cup" type lifting point which seems ideally designed to do as much damage to your jacking points as possible, simply buy an ice hockey puck (which is made out of very firm rubber) and cut the bottom half of it to fit the "cup" part of the jack (I cut mine as an octagon of the right size) and hey presto, no damage to the underside of the car!

I've got the Arcan jack from Costco too and it's a great bit of kit!

Not necessary as the SGS trolley jack comes with a rubber protective pad which goes on top of the metal cup.
