Saga continues....

Spoken with VW CS regarding my Golf which has been sat at Emden for over two weeks and the issue seems to the be with a backlog of vehicles and recent bad weather reducing the number of sailings.

So no text this morning confirming the car was shipped over the weekend - Grrrr

Just had a chat with VW customer services who told me my car has been at Emden since the 12/03 and it'll be there for approx 7-10 days before leaving for the uk

Yet to receive a reply to my email but when I last spoke to them on Friday they couldn't locate my car or confirm it was on the shipping manifest for this weekend.

Starting to get more than a little grumpy!

Due to a massive backlog and reduced shipment numbers because of bad weather there is a delivery delay of 1-2 weeks meaning I will not receive my car until early April.

That's really disappointing I ordered my GTD on August 1st 2015 and it wasn't delivered until March 1st 2016.  No idea why it took so long and its annoying when people ordered theirs in December and got them sooner than me! It was worth the wait and it's a 16 plate I suppose!

7 months is far too long. Sounds like your dealer didn't have any allocation left so couldn't actually place the order for a couple of months or without being a scaremonger it was damaged in transit which does happen and was either replaced or repaired.

My money is on the dealer not having allocation left.

First post here, but a lurker for a while.

Ordered my GTI DSG Tornado Red on 20th December 2015.

Still no build date.    My dealer has no clue and VW says only "contact your dealer".  Nobody will tell me honestly what is going on.  Maybe it'll be a 66 reg by the time it arrives or even a mk 8?

Grateful for any advice as to how to get a breakthrough.

Have you tried phoning VW CS on the 0800 number but your dealer should know whats going on.

Welcome to the forum. The dealer should have an order number and that way you can ask VW for a provisional build date.

The dealer allocation sounds plausible - smaller dealership in Dunfermline.  There were multiple changes in build weeks from VW.  Don't think there was anything untoward with the car as once it was built it was here pretty quickly - about three weeks.  It was parked in the dealership 2 days after it arrived at the port.
