Keyless and security
« on: 05 February 2016, 00:15 »
I've seen it mentioned on a few threads about how keyless is a security threat.
Anyone got any links to VW suffering from this? I've read about BMW's but not VW.

This was valid for older models with keyless where the scum could break the drivers window and connect a small device to the OBD port and reprogram the car or start the engine without the key. With newer models this is really hard to do to nearly impossible given that to reprogram a new key the dealer needs a live connection to the factory in Germany where they get a special code. This being the main reason why most of the cars nicked these days are with owners key by breaking into the house.
