Mk3 Anniversary, two point slow
« on: 22 January 2016, 19:09 »
Hello there! My first ever post on a forum. Never done Facebook cos it's the devil. I've always been a VW fan, had loads over the years. Still have a mk5 gti, which is the best car I've ever owned and I've had a few. Love the mk1 and mk2 but they're getting ridiculously priced and I'm not a mechanic. In November I bought a mk3 anniversary on fleabay for the princely sum of £907. Flew over to Surrey from Belfast and drove it back 400 miles. Didn't miss a beat. It's a 1996 P ref, 1st owner 19 yrs, second owner 6 months, ridiculous history, every Mot and big file. Car is immaculate too except for a couple of small marks. Plans are to refurb the bbs wheels and tidy up the bodywork, have new shocks and eibach springs ready to go on. Maybe a miltek cat back and induction kit. That's about it. I know it's 'the ugly golf' and yes it's a two-point-slow 8 valve but I absolutely love it! Will add pics soon.

Welcome :) 8v's benefit well from improvements to air in and out, so things like drilled airbox and 4-branch manifolds allow them to rev a little more freely and improve throttle response. Gut the lower half of the airbox too :)
