It's definitely black the pictures of that very car are in the auto express review and it was present at the launch in germany. The pictures make it look grey due to the amount of gloss black plastic trim it has but in real life it looks deep black like any other deep black car.
I have just seen the Auto Express pics and it looks grey apart from in the door shuts.
I have emailed VW UK press office who will have a definitive answer.
The contrast stickers on the black CS Ed40 make me lean towards it being grey. I never see a Mk7 GTI/GTD/R in black and think it might be grey, whatever the light etc

LOL, you won't rest until you check the color field of the registration right?

I know the name is "deep black pearl" but it's not too deep really. Still... it's black!

I'd happily drive from Sweden and park next to it so you can see the difference between a CSG and DBP but it's too far for that

LOL, I bet there is a German web site where you can put the registration number in and it will say which colour but my German isn't up to that.

I'm just curious because I've got a black one coming so it would be nice to know what it looks like.

Don't worry, the car in the photos you posted (and same for the Autoexpress article) is black so you can get an idea already

Sorry I've probably missed it, you mean a CS or CSS?

  This is funny.

I have a GTI mk7 now in DBP and ordered a Clubsport in CSG.

The stripes on DBP Clusbports are all light grey and not black, one of the reasons I went with CSG as the grey looks not that great too me.

Unless the S models get black tape?

I think it's unlikely they will make the tape less visible on the Clubsport S than the Ed40 so I too think DBP will have grey tape (and I also agree the black tape on the grey cars looks a bit incorrect)

Easy way to solve this, as I only found out that DBP cars had the grey tape was to check ETKA for the strips for the clusbport S models (if the parts are loaded on the system yet)

If there are 2x types like the normal clusbports (1x grey and 1x black) then we know.

Just been to see a red one in a local dealer - absolutely beautiful and I didn't realise they have numbered plaques attached to the door.
