We had to email our area manager from day one which colour the customer wanted and we got all 3 in the colours requested. It was only at the last minute that they also asked did we want any without air con.

thanks for the insight. I chose a small dealer in the West Country so a long way down the pecking order from inchcape and chances are they have less clout.

Well I've got my order number and the colour I want (black), I would have considered white solely for the lower maintenance required but the contrast roof isn't my cup of tea and doesn't serve any functional purpose which swung it for me.
Be nice to see what a black one looks like, even a normal CS pic will do for now

Yes I've found it difficult to find pics of a black one. Externally it looks identical to a clubsport 40:

Because its externally identical to edition 40 and internally the same apart from the rear seats and removed buttons & spec you can also configure it on the vw website as an edition 40 and give it grey pretoria wheels to see what it will look like.
