Anyone know the relation between bucket seats and the deletion of KESSY + Start/Stop engine button? I would not have KESSY in any car I bought (even more the start/stop button) so really glad I got rid of it by speccing the Recaros but just curious really how do they relate.

Are standard seats electrically adjustable? I imagine that might be an explanation as the cabling that comes with them might extend to the start/stop button and then start/stop might require KESSY. So replacing them with the mechanically adjustable buckets might exclude both these systems at the same time.

If you spec the buckets, you get no central console / arm rest. Apparantly that is the location of a lo of electrical control equipment, hence the deletion of that and the ambient lighting etc.

More interestingly have you got a build date yet?

The last dealer I saw before I mentioned about being interested in a Golf R said they were not keen on the Clubsport either and did not seem keen to sell me one.  I know this comes across as personal preference, which from a salesman may not be great.

They did not seem too bothered about selling a Clubsport.  I personally have nothing against the clubsport myself was tempted for a while until I saw the price and then opted for a Golf R instead.  However to all of you who have one on order enjoy it as I am sure it will be a great car to drive and own.

Yes was week 24. According to my dealer it started last week but still is not complete, probably quality controls pending or something. Hopefully less than a month for delivery now.

The arm-rest can be retro-fitted for whoever needs it, Clubsport owners in Germany have done it already. I have it on my current car but I find I more often have to lift it up to access the handbrake, than I put it down to use as an actual arm-rest. Although with the e-brake it could stay down permanently, not really worried about it anyway.

Just realised that there is another deletion that comes with the buckets? I checked a couple of Clubsports in Germany, ones with buckets on and I see a) no rear air-condition vents (I guess since there is no central console) and b) no tray/cover over the cup pockets in-between the front seats (that doesn't make much sense).

Ok, KESSY I couldn't care less and the tray/cover is something rather indifferent to me, but I would have liked the rear passengers to enjoy some direct air flow. I wonder how possible it'd be to retro-fit that If I could bother at some point.

Which brings the question why did the central console needed to be ditched for the buckets to come on anyway?

I mean I would have still gone for the buckets as I think they are one of the main areas that set this car apart, no meaning in ordering one without them imo but just curious really why VW decided to ditch them.

However, some hard Google search and voila, for whoever this is an issue there is a detailed how-to in this german forum:

From my inexisting German I understand the armrest and console retrofit is possible and works fine, air-con included! In fact, now that I know it's possible I'll probably forget the idea all-together, it was much more intriguing when I thought it's not easy to do, like when someone forbids something   and I'll be seating at the front anyway
