Most of that will depend on the track & tyres.

Brands Indy will be different to Silverstone and fitting Bridgestones vs pilot sport cup 2's will make so much difference to the outcome.

The track is most likely to be one of the Bedford layouts.

Thought about the tyres last night, should be able to beg/steal/borrow a new set of R888-Rs (or whatever they are called this month) in MK5 Championship size.

Manual v DSG might be another one to try out on the same day.

Sounds really interesting.

What are the R888-R's like compared to normal r888's?

So far only run them in the dry and not noticed a great difference to be honest.

Will interesting to see how consistent they are over a race distance when (or should that be if) the weather warms up a bit. Old R888's were tired after around 4 laps and a bit of understeer used to creep in.

Hi All.

I had been hoping to get a 40th Anniversary / Club Sport to replace my 2.5 year old Mk7 GTi, but the high price and initial lack of discount put me off.

If anyone is interested there now seems to be a reasonable discount available (for example £4,601 off a 3dr Manual) via Broadspeed.

The lack of Bucket Seats and other standard GTi spec have put me off tbh, will probably wait for the Mk7 FL / Mk8 now.

I'm in two minds if too add the Buckets to the list.

I have winter pack already, so its £380 off the £1350 as the buckets are heated.....

Not sure, I think its a defining feature of the Clubsport though.

We do use back seat for a 7 year old from time to time, but they do tilt also.

I guess most others have spec'd them?

Anyone got a stage 3 confirmed build week yet?

I think that having the buckets is a must on the Clubsport, it makes it more appealing than the normal GTI interior however from the look of the photo they don't tilt that much forwards to allow easy access into the back seats :(

Bucket seats would be a must for me, they are a major part of what makes the Ed40 desirable imho.  Also, I think it's what everyone will want when they come onto the used market.

I have specified them.  It differentiates it from the regular GTI and the R.  Will likely help with resale as well i would think.

I dont have it confirmed yet but my dealer have told me October, however i suspect they are simply taking the order date and adding six months.

I took the leather seats. The reason is that I am quite long and if you look at the YouTube movies, you see that the seats aren't very high. I am afraid my head would not be supported (completely), which is not safe and not comfortable. Unfortunatly I was not able to try a model before my order, so I choose the safe option..
