^^^That's what I thought at first. Or it could be that if they get more than 1,000 requests from dealers they will reduce some of the requested allocations to stay at the 1,000?
That's how I read it. There's 1000 units available. If there are 100 dealers in the country and they all request 10 cars then everything is fine, if they request more than that then they'll divvy them up presumably by dealership size, their total sales volumes etc.
Unless your sole reasons for having one are exclusivity and optioning those seats you'd be mad to buy one of these over an R IMO. Buy one without the seats (can't see the point in that) and you'll still be paying more than an R if you can't access a decent level of discount. For that you're 35ps down without boost, a second off on the 0-62 times, same mpg (I really thought there'd be more than a 1mpg penalty for running a Haldex!).
Stick a limited allocation on less of a car and charge more money for it. I'd feel a bit of a mug if I did that.
I think VW pricing is crazy right now anyway - there's too little RRP difference between a GTI and an R since the GTI took on a bit more compulsory/standard equipment and adjusted it's RRP accordingly.
