So today my girlfriends mk3 GTi was parked up at the side of the road outside her house. Two hours later she goes outside to get something from the car and comes back in obviously in a great deal of stress. Some absolute twit in a lorry has side swiped down the whole f**king thing. Absolutly gutted. It wasnt as if she was parked badly, or in a place she shouldnt have been. Infact my car was parked behind it and its just good luck that the lorry hadnt taken me out as well by the looks of it.
She bought the car 3 years back off a friend of mine and has used it everyday and loved every bit of it. She only just had it MOTd yesterday as well!
I know the mk3 isnt worth anything at the moment, but the fact someone can do this and then just hot foot it without a moments consideration is appalling. No one in the village saw anything happen, there's no come back, so unfortunaltly theyve got away with it. There's no point in claiming on insurance either I doubt given the value of a mk3.
At the moment she cant bare look at it, and tbh neither can I.
So this is an appeal really, im obviously scanning ebay and the for sale ads, but if anyone has a set of O/S doors (5 door GTi) in red available and a wing mirror they would like to sell, then I will happily collect if distance is 100 miles of York. (Or will you courier?)
The front wing escaped impact and the rear quarter has a small dent, which im kidding myself will pull out at the minute.
