According to the brochure, you get 2 yrs unlimited mileage manufacturers warranty and 1 year 60,000 miles retailer warranty, whichever is soonest. Whatever that means.

The car comes with a vw warranty that lasts 3 years I believe.
It won't matter that you bought the car second hand, the warranty is with the car, not the owner.

It's 3 years? I thought it was 2. Given I thought it was 2 years warranty from birth, as the car is a June-2014 registration, I presumed I would only have the remaining 6 month VW warranty, taking me to June-2016. If, in fact, the warranty is 3 years, then I am covered until June 2017 - which is excellent. :-)

Devils Advocate question - how can I be certain VW will not have any issues, despite the fact that I did not buy it from them? I do not want to be met with resistance and they refuse to help if - IF - I need to call them (which I'm hoping I'll never have to...... Whaaaat? One can hope)!!

The way I have always understood VW warranty is that you get the mandatory 2 years warranty VW and the 3rd year is from VW UK so it is 3 years in total. I was also under the impression that you can buy extra warranty from VW for another year but you need to get it before the end of the 3rd year.

I would check that they are genuine santiagos and not replicas, why else would you spec a car like that and put crappy tyres on, doesn't make sense to me.
This is an excellent point and needs a thorough investigation!! :nerd:
But in all seriousness, they should be made by Ronal if I'm not mistaken so it's definitely worth checking out.
It will be stamped on the inside of the wheel somewhere

Tweet @VWUKHelp they'll put your fears to bed.
It doesn't matter where the car came from (Unless its an import I believe) but you will have no problems at all. The car is covered for 3 years regardless of dealers / owners its had.

It means that if you buy from a UK dealer, you have the full 3 years. If you buy an import (Ireland/Malta/Cyprus spec ate common for UK import) the 2 year only warranty starts from when the car was registered/PDI'd?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Hi All - quick update: I bought the car!

Checked it out very thoroughly. Wheels are legit, and all the paper work was in order. Very pleased with it.

It drives superb. The Santiago alloys look very good. There is a slight kerbing on one of them and a minor scratch on the lower skirting; does any know any good mobile alloy wheel and dent repairers in London?

Must say, the car is impressive. The grey looks superb, real head tuner. The Tyre Pressures were low, but other than that, the car was in perfect order. Look out for lots more questions, as I'm sure I'll have many things to ask. Wading through the instruction manuals is not as fun as talking to fellow owners.

Thanks to everyone for all their valid contributions - very helpful.

Thank you.

The boots are actually ok, seems futile to dish out before necessary. Once the tyres start to go, then for sure, I'll treat it to some new rubber.

I did it get it slightly cheaper, and got a good deal.

Hi AS, I am in the same boat as you. How much did you get the car for in the end please? as the original ad is no longer available and I have no idea of the value.

Thanks
