My last car which I had for 12 years was auto but I'm really enjoying the change to manual. Having said that, when stuck in traffic I'd be pleased to have auto again, but that is rare.

Only you can decide that one then fella!    personally i am taking the jump to the DSG to try it.

Up until my R I only had manuals, other than the occasional terrible auto courtesy car, and wasn't overly keen on the DSG but it was all I could get quickly. The DSG in the R/GTI is amazing VW have done great job and you won't be disappointed with it, I was the biggest skeptic and I love it !

I really like the DSG so would definitely recommend. Had it in my last 3 Golfs - Mk5 GTI, Mk6 2.0 TDI 140 and now Mk7 GTD

When I first got it was mainly for the power but these days I appreciate its relaxed nature and it works very nicely in combination with the Adaptive Cruise.

The GTI in question here being a June 2015 will definitely have DAB, but you're on the fringe for whether it will have the 2016 changes (KESSY, Winter Pack and Nav)

I've ordered my GTI with a manual box.
As good as the DSG box is, I really don't like the way it works at low speeds.
Pulling out of a junction in my wife's A3 S Tronic bugs me every time.

The only time my dsg box has an issue is if you are almost at a stop and it has assumed you are stopping then you get back on the power with quite a bit of throttle. It's a bit jerky then but other than that it's smooth.

Its the first dsg that I've owned but I've had a couple of other autos before and this is by far the best.

Also DSG works particularly well on the GT/GTD/R in conjunction with ACC... it will bring you to a halt and start moving again without driver intervention. - very impressive once you learn to trust it and a godsend in slow moving traffic...

It is a very good box but as a driver, I quite like intervening in the gear selecting aspect of driving a car.
