PARTS REQUIRED FOR SERVICE - IS THIS EXPENSIVE?

Got my major service done today by Autovolks.

The following have come up... Just wanted to know whether this was a reasonable price
The things I asked them to look for was - oil burning too quick, engine light came on after them fixing it around 8 months ago, and squeaky brakes again brand new brakes and pads were put on around 8 months ago by previous owner

After the service I have been quoted the following:

-   Both front shock absorbers leaking £277.20
-   Front wishbone lower rear console bushes splitting £192.43
-   Rear brake disc’s and pads and OSR Calliper faulty £297.74
-   Purge valve and engine breather (engine light on, fault codes 01089 evap system purge flow and 08583 fuel trim bank 1, requires evap purge valve and engine breather) £128.76

Really quick price up using Euro Car Parts - does not include the additional 10% discount on their website at the moment

£95.00 for front shocks (Sachs)
£20.00 for control arm bushes
£45.00 for set of Eicher rear disks
£40.00 for rear brake pads
£100.00 for calliper
£225.00 - Labour based on 3 hours @ £75PH

So approx. £525 inc labour plus purge valve stuff at £x.xx

I have just looked at their web site, they are an independant garage.
If they are using VAG parts, then maybe, still high.

But as AntGTD showed, Euro Car parts are a fair bit cheaper. I use Euro for most of my parts. All good kit.
 
Why not ask the garage to quote using non VAG parts, they may knock a fair chunk off your original quote.

Or look on your local VAG dealer website, I have just had an offer for 50% of if you book on new years eve. JCB Medway.
