Power Increase
« on: 20 December 2015, 23:51 »
Evening all, just got an all original (bar the stereo) MK2 GTI and wondered what's the best way to increase power without modifying too much?
I'm not looking to spend a fortune, £1000 tops, as I've just bought a house and I don't really want an engine conversion as the stock engine was rebuilt last year and it's sweet as a nut however it'd be nice to get a few more bhp!
If anyone has any tips that'd be cool.
Cheers.

Kent cam GS2H, think its a 276 lift. A nice idle too, got one in mine. Gives a nice kick between 3000-6000 rpm. Its only probably around +12bhp, but it feels like a lot more when ya drop your foot to the floor! Can pick em up off flea bay for around £100 up.

gs2h is a 270 cam. bear in mind though that a sports cam becomes lumpier the smaller the engine it is fitted in.

I have just bought a mk2 8v and am in two minds whether to keep it completely standard or go down the TSR Silverstone 2100 route, 1.8T or convert it to a wide track ABF from my Mk3 16v which I also have. Big power big money unfortunately unless you are a mechanic or mechanically minded.
