Few Too Many Issues
« on: 17 December 2015, 21:43 »
S I've now had my R 7 weeks now, absolutely love the car to bits..BUT I'm having slightly too many issues IMO, see below a list of issues I'm experiencing:
1: Rubbing sound from front wheels while Turning (Both Durections)
2: Knocking from suspension area when braking at low speeds (More noticeable if I change direction)
3: Media Screen has went black on a couple of occasions, but was fine after a while
4: Slight rattle from the passenger window
5: Most recently ie from today, when accelerating quite hard between 1500-2500 revs there is a slight hesitation in power and I can hear what sounds like a metallic rubbing sound (BTW this isn't the normal ringing sound everyone talks about when accelerating, I have this too lol)

my my car is going into VW the first week of Jan to look at the issues, but I can't help feeling a bit dissapointed, also I'm worried that VW will come back and say all these issues are normal, IMO there not and some of which are really rather annoying and I couldn't live with them for much longer.
Owned nearly 20 cars in my time and never had so many issues on one vehicle never mind a brand new £30k one

Owned my MK7 GTD for 9 months and had no issues whatsoever.

PS still a lovely car that I hope gets resolved

I can categorically tell you they are not normal. You get some whining from the steering/wheels at full lock but other than that, nothing you mention is normal, so don't let them try that one!

Fingers crossed for you that you get some resolution in Jan.  Disappointing to get a brand new car and have so many issues, particularly the rubbing, knocking and suspension issues and rattling window.  The window alone would drive me mad!  Media screen sounds just the usual tech blips that are not uncommon with the VW media systems.  Just like any tablet/computer - they all have their moments! Unless of course it starts happening regularly.

Hope it gets sorted and you can get on and enjoy the car.

What a shame you are having so many problems, hope you get them sorted to your satisfaction. Three are suspension so hopefully they can be sorted easily. I dread having problems with a new car, I always have a mental fight before I commit to buying as at least with an older car you expect to have problems from time to time. Good luck. Btw - red really is the best!

Sorry to hear about your disappointment Ian - I had the blank screen once although I remember reading that it would sometimes reboot so wasn't too worried.

Hopefully you'll get sorted with a visit to the dealer

That's part of my reluctance in changing my GTD. I'll probably regret saying this, but it's been pretty much bullet proof, and aside from squeaking rear brakes when reversing from cold (which came back after a dealer fix in a month or so), mechanically it's been brilliant.

Build wise I seem to have not got a Friday afternoon car as no squeaks from the interior, no weird noises from the suspension, and all electronics working perfectly (see, they can build decent car's when they want :-) ).

Of course the other big part is a) cost of changing, and b) My GTD does me brilliantly and is a great spec, and whilst I would dearly love an "R", for 90% of the time I'd own it, I wouldn't be able to exploit any of the additional power, so would really be a weekend toy.

Now a 4 Motion GTD, that would be something (even with crappy Bridgestone's)!

Oh yes, especially if they could slot in the new 240PS BiTDI fitted to the latest Passat and Tiguan. Golf R TDI maybe?
