Replacement grill & fuel filler hole
« on: 12 December 2015, 01:28 »
Had an awful night tonight. Started with managing to snap something when filling the car up with petrol, followed by hitting a fox later on in the night and smash the front grill. So my questions are:

1) What part number is the front nearside lower grill? Is it available online anywhere? And is it easy to fit?

2) What is the plastic ring that has snapped by the fuel filler neck? Is it easy to replace? Once again, part numbers/available online?

Car is a MK7 GTD.

Thanks in advance!

That was an expensive trip!
I'd just take it straight to a main dealer and order the parts through them.
If it's too expensive you could at least get the parts numbers off them and look online.
Good luck, you must be gutted

Ouch. Bit of bad luck there!

Good news is the front grill is available separately for a smidge under £67. I can't give you the part number as there are a few listed so best asking the dealer.

Is it the mis fueling insert that's broken? Can't tell from the pics. If so, two parts are listed, one is just under 9 quid, the other 25 quid.

Not idea how much effort is involved in changing all of these but at least the parts aren't mega money.

Thanks for the replies. Pretty sure it is the misfueling insert. Will try and take it a main dealer next week for them to have a look. At least the parts don't seem too expensive for VW. Depends on labour I guess, or whether I can do it myself.
