EPC
« on: 08 December 2015, 17:07 »
Hi Guys, am currently offshore and the missus told me today that the car lost power and the EPC light comes on!!!....any ideas?
Would this have anything to do with my DTUK Box?

Please advise
Cheers

Very possible....when you have the DTUK box turned up and it runs fine in warmer weather it sometimes throws up a EPC during cooler weather due to air density. The fault code will almost certainly be "implausable signal" from one of the boost sensors. Mine did do it....but I turned it down a little.

I'd say it's to do with it. Mine comes on occasionally (twice in the year ive had the box on). Take the box off and it'll clear, then put it back on.

Cheers Guys, I had a sneaky feeling it might be that...Will remove and refit or do I leave it off till the warmer weather???
As it's stalling out at junctions, and its not good if there's a car up the rear end!!!

Drop it back one. So if you are on 3+3 drop it to 3+2. Normally sorts it out

Will try this when am home on Thursday, fingers crossed it fixes the problem, what difference does going from 3+3 down to 3+2 make in performance?

I kinda depends on what maps you have on your box.....but generally you wont feel that much difference if any.

Id just drop it down one notch......

The power and torque increase per jump. Not massively, and you'll only notice if you are very observant

Mines never stalled at junctions mind and I keep it on year round on 4+1 (old box). Might be something different if it's stalling, maybe try running it without the box for a bit and see if there's another fault.

Might not be the box. Had an EPC light on twice on the R (no box or map on mine), first time with a big drop in power, second time without - diagnosis led to a new turbo.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
