Just got a V5. What to do next!!!!!!

Car looks very smart. It is bog standard.  Not having owned one before I am not sure
of expected performance figures so your advise would be good to hear.

Also any websites I can visit to see about bodykits / tuning mods etc.

Here is a website and although I can't find Dubai on it you can choose South Africa in the top right hand corner.

This is the re-map for a bit more poke but I cant find the V5 on there so they may not do it. The V5 pushes 170BHP as standard.  :smiley:

As for other websites, look at this sites main page --> www.golfgti.co.uk and you will see a whole load of "useful links" to go through but they will be mostly UK sites but there are some foreign ones on there too.  :smiley:

i think they changed at some point, they went from a 150 to a 170 with the aid of extra vlaves i think i cant remember off hand

i think you wanna be looking at a highflow cat and exhaust system, then maybe a decent induction kit, and possibly a remap of the ecu?? i think ive read somewhere that the v5's were basically a vr6 lump with the last cylinder chopped off, so if thats the case i cant see why any supercharger/turbo kits similar to what peeps fit to the fwd mk2 2.8 vr6 wouldnt work in a similar way??

suspension wise you wanna lower and uprate the old girl a bit with the best u can afford, new antiroll bars and poly bushes will also tighten the handling up!!

I am not sure about mine then.  The chap I bought it from said 175Bhp.  Its quite quick.
Will I be able to fit 19's on her without the need of any skimming on the arches?

I never thought I would say this being a man from the GM stable, but she is actually quite a sexy little car.

The new GTI is here an goes for aroung 110,00Dhs which is about 15000 quid.  Looks good inside, but I like Mk4 shape better.

So tell me folks, what cars can the golf take on in standard guise?  Vtec, Calibra v6 etc etc.

Now that is an I like to here. 

I once lined up against a MK1 Golf in South Africa on a drag event.  Peace of Pi$$ me thought.  So the christmas tree lights
went through the motions.  I nailed the pedal and said goodbye to the golf.  By the time I managed to focus back on the road in front he
had Wwwwwhhhhoooossshhhhhheeeed past me.  Little did I now he had a huge bottle of laughing gas in the boot :angry:.

I love those kinda dices.

I have never had the bottle ( :grin:) for the bottle in the back.  It is banned in this country.  I can only pressume
that the 40+ degrees heat may have something to do with it.  The arabs here would also have the knob turned open constantly.

I would like to go the Forced Induction route again, but not sure if it is really worth it.  The fact the car pushes out 170Bhp already
with the few mods like re-mapping, freeflow maybe 200+ it might be ok.  Some of the body kits on the golfs in the UK are wicked.

I would also like to go for a set of 18-19's from the Audi, the multi spoke ones on the RS4.

The car is just going to look so sexy one day.
