High emission reading on Mot

Have just had car ( mk 5 Gti ) put thru Mot at main V W dealership,. All previous odometer readings have been between 11000. And 12000. On this occasion reading was over 16700. I have queried this. As yet no reply. Any comment welcome, as am non technical. Otherwise car appeared to sail thru everything ok. Thanks

I don't understand - an odometer measures distance traveled. What does that have to do with emissions?
