where to get touch up + tips plz?
« on: 23 October 2003, 14:32 »
My car is pearl effect 'black magic', code LC9Z.

2 reasons..

1.. Theres a scrape on the nearside front spoiler
i'm not too fussed about touching this up with the exact right colour as anything will be better than the white thats showing through (hell i might use a fatboy perm marker i've got lying around) touch up would be best tho..

2.. there are a few minor stone chips on the bonnet + some lil bits in other places

not entirely keen on touching up the stone chips as it looked awful when i did it on my last car, because u could see the raised up area where the paint was applied, and as the car was red the rest of the paint was a slightly lighter colour.

Does giving it a good wax + maybe using one of those chipstix jobbers really work well?

would that also work well for little scratches?

Of course.. all the car places i go to dont stock any form of touch up paint for my car..

Last time I tried to touch something up I got a slap and spent the night in a cell.  I'd leave it alone if I were you.

But if you really need to, I hear "Royales" in Uxbridge is quite good.

the best way to do touch ups is firstly get the right colour you will find it is better to buy paint from a proper motor factors that matches the paint to the car as most colours have about 6 shades then when applying the paint dont use the brush in the tin buy a good quality brush with a fine tip so you put the paint in the chip and not all over the rest of the paint work then let it dry and build it up with a few coats if it sits higher than the other paint work get some fine wet and dry paper and flat it down then some t cut to get the shine back. ;)
