Discover Pro - SD card or Not
« on: 19 November 2015, 15:49 »
My new R has Discover Pro but did not come with an SD card for the Nav files - I know the Nav data is stored on the internal Hard Disc but how do you update the Nav software without an original VW card as on ordinary Discover Nav.

The dealer is telling me that the Pro never comes with an SD card

There should be 2 SD card slots in the glovebox as well as a DVD player if you have the Nav Pro!!

Have the slots my Q was should I have a VW SD card with the Maps on it so I can Update the Pro, or do I just use any SD card.  Coming from my GTI with standard Nav I have to use the original VW SD card for updates but the dealer is telling me I can use any SD card to load new maps onto the Pro - is he correct

You don't get a SD card with the navpro.

The maps are stored on the internal SSD and when you need to update them you load them onto any old card and shove it in one of the slots. Its not a special card, just an SD card with enough space.

Once updated, take the card out, you don't need it again until next update.

I didn't get one with my Pro Nav either. I think you can use any SD card to update.

Has there been a very recent update Vidman or are you just thinking ahead?

LoL totally misread your question
Exactly as FredGroves says. Any old card with enough space.

There was an update this month I believe
