Dashboard electrics
« on: 11 November 2015, 22:14 »
Evening guys,

I've got two issues with dashboard electrics. I've read some previous posts and have perhaps got somewhere, but just after people's opinions really. My two issues are:
Lights for the blowers don't work
Blowers don't work (not even on speed 4, but if driving fast enough air will come through and hot if temp dial is on red).
Fuse is fine.

So, are these issues linked? What order would you do things in (changing bulbs, electrical testing etc.)?

I'd really appreciate your input.

Cheers,
Chezney

Lights for the blowers as in the 0/1 at the vents or illumination behind the control dials? Not all vents are illuminated and bulb behind dials is easy fix (short length of hose helps getting bulb out/in).
The blowers themselves not working is possibly the motor itself, up behind the glove box. I think they just fail with age and recall water can get down in there through the pollen filter and scuttle. Pop the scuttle cover off and inspect the motor.
Both DIY jobs with some basic tools.

Thanks Mr. Orange. Yes I can see the bulb, and I'm going to get it out and check/change it. I did have a damp problem a while back so this could be the issue. I'll get the glovebox off as well and have a gander at the motor.
Thanks
