Something not right
« on: 07 November 2015, 11:20 »
mk6 gti put a forge induction kit on 2 weeks ago and it was fine, then 2 days ago something just didnt seem right on tick over, but once you gave it a tiny bit of rev, it was fine and still pulled like a train! but after id been out to a friends and left, it was fine when i left but 5 minutes up the road the management light came on, but made no difference to the performance! 2 days after this i tried 2 start it again and it sounded ten times worse and struggled to keep running, and for some reason the battery had died, then it just refused 2 start at all!! ive had the battery on charge over night and tried it again this morning because i was told there was a small posibility a dead battery could b causing issues, also been told it could be coil packs, it fired up for about ten seconds but running rough as hell, so ive left it again, trying 2 find some1 with a diagnostics thing 2 come check it for me, if this sounds familiar to anyone or if anyone could shed some light on the symptoms, help would be much appreciated =) i have read a lot about the chain tensioner failure but ive never noticed any rattles like ive read about, so starting to get really confused with it now =/

Symptoms sound a bit like tensioner but as you say it needs a diagnostic check. Fingers crossed it is not the tensioner.

Suggest you look at this thread and follow it through for a couple of pages. Similar symptoms to yours and was eventually diagnosed as the tensioner. Hopefully no other damage. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=262793.msg2486253#msg2486253

sounds like coil packs or spark plugs to me mate, if the tensioner would have failed you would know about it.
