This is odd.

If it was just a VW tightwad cost saving thing then the stuff posted by Evo wouldn't be true - they do seem to have a genuine problem here, that is going to make them refund customers and cause grief.

But at the same time, its only for the 3 door.

What could we conclude from this?

If the 3 door keyless uses a separate part and there are supplier difficulties?

If the 3 door uses some different part from the 5 and there are some technical problems with it?

If the 3 door version has a safety problem and there are pending court cases for it?

I'm not convinced that the part numbers are different between the two, mind you, maybe they could be - different sized doors might need a different mechanism? Then again, is the bits in the door actually different? I'd guess the keyless module was more of a central component, the locking and unlocking of the doors is simply a computer controlled function the same as with the key, only the authentication method is different?

Perhaps they've changed the way keyless works from BW45 that makes it incompatible with 3 door cars. For instance, the current keyless implementation does not work with the rear doors - you cannot unlock/lock the car by touching the rear door handle. I believe you can do this on Audi's. Maybe VW have changed how the system works....

Jeeps, glad I got mine before it was pulled. Could live without it, but glad I don't have to

Maybe I'm reading that wrong but

"For instance, the current keyless implementation does not work with the rear doors - you cannot unlock/lock the car by touching the rear door handle. I believe you can do this on Audi's. Maybe VW have changed how the system works...."

That would be 5 door models then it effected not 3 door.

What a shame. I have Keyless on a 3-Door and it enhances my ownership experience of the car. I'd be gutted if I couldn't have it.

What I'm saying is, perhaps the keyless module has been completely changed so that it now only works with a 5 door car. It's just a theory, and is probably way off

There seems to be no logic as to Keyless removal. Nuts! C'mon VW you need all the new customers you can get!

I love using my keyless entry and stop/go push button. As JBirchy says it enhances my ownership of the car every day. Gives it a premium feel.

How weird.
You can still get it on the Scirocco.

now all those poor people ordering 3 door Golfs will have to do the massively difficult task of fishing a key out of their pocket that sits right next to their hand. Oh dear.

My step mother's Juke and various hire cars at work had keyless.
I don't carry a handbag so therefore find it pointless!

Nike are releasing shoes that lace themselves up a la Back to the Future which will be ideal for keyless users who enjoy spending hundreds of pounds just so they don't have to dip their hand in their pocket...
Heaven forbid they have to bend over and tie shoelaces too!!!
