Do not use RainX, terrible stuff for causing wiper judder.

Not tried G1 but I personally don't put anything on the windscreen at all.

I have got G1 on mine, it caused a bit of windscreen judder which is normal but should die down within a couple of weeks.

That said I didn't need to use my wipers whilst on the M1 yesterday when it was pouring down, the water was just running straight off the screen.

NEITHER!

From painful experience, you're best bet is to leave the windscreen alone. Use traditional cheap and cheerful methods such as newspaper and vinegar to clean it and rid it of smears, but please do not apply RainX or anything like that on it. Even the expensive crap like GTechniq make an absolute balls of your screen. You're asking for trouble... do you like squeaky and juddery wipers?

Actually, it's amazing how effective the cheapest option is. My screen was very streaky from new, I could see streaks all over it when driving into direct sunlight. A bit of elbow grease with some old newspaper and windowlene cleaner (vinegar will do too lol) did the trick. Completely crystal clear now.

Totally agree Joe. My Mk6 got the White vinegar/paper treatment. Even ordinary glass cleaner buggers up the windscreen.  Rain X is a nightmare.  After using it once, in a heavy downpour I had to pull over and wait for the rain to subside before I could continue.  After that decided the windscreen would simply get washed and then left virgin. All other glass get waxed with same stuff as the paintwork.

That coupled with a decent set of wiper blades (Bosch Aerotwin) and all is hunky dory.

I completely agree rain x is rubbish , I brought a twin pack of it in Costco at the weekend thinking I would get better visibility in the winter months, but after the first drive in the rain it seems to play havoc with the wiper's in auto mode, & also made the wiper's very noisy, luckily any new product I buy get's tested on my Astra estate first & Being the sort of person that doesn't like throwing things away , I have found it work great on the shower cubicle.

Haha, it's amazing how things translate to the shower cubicle. I've also tried it on the shower in place of shower spray. And another great tip someone (dubber36) on here mentioned was to clay the shower glass.  It works really well, gets rid of limescale. Then a quick rinse and spray of Rain X.

But absolute rubbish on a car.

Used clay is great for the shower glass. Even better if you use shower gel as a lube and do it when you are all ready in there carrying out ablutions. Take two bottles into the shower? No need.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
