8v to 16v brake upgrade, need help!
« on: 28 October 2015, 18:45 »
i have owned my golf now for about 9 months, i have done some minor repairs myself and sent other work to specialists who actually have a clue what they're doing but now i have decided to start on something myself. I have had the rear brakes upgraded already by my brother but now i need to do the front ones i haven't a clue what parts i need and what sizes. i have gathered so far i need:

- 256mm Brakes discs
- Brake pads
- Brake Calipers
- Carriers
- Hub
- Housing

can anyone point me in the right direction with where i can find these and what specifications i need?

Yep, you need 16v hubs (these are on lots of cars, not just 16v mk2s, a google search will soon tell you) 16v calipers&carriers and 256mm discs/pads (pagid set up on eBay for £40 delivered is a good deal). Not sure what the 'housing' is in your list.

Alternative is a G60 set up, need the same hubs but G60 calipers&carriers and 280mm discs/pads.

Upgrading to the 22mm master cylinder is also a good idea, yours will be 20mm.

No worries, where in West Yorkshire are you?
