I love my Santiagos (admitedly not quite so much at cleaning time, but if you keep on top of it they're not too bad).

^^^ Are the black spokes there for strength? It just looks far too cluttered for me.
Without the black spokes that would be a winner.

I don't know the answer to that but I reckon you're right. Some extra rigidity is probably a good thing with the state of the roads. To some extent I also agree with you about them looking a bit cluttered but I still love the look! Try squinting :wink:
