Anyone having Bluetooth problems?
« on: 18 October 2015, 17:43 »
My Bluetooth connectivity seems stuffed. It has worked fine until now (2.5k on the clock) but on Thursday it wouldn't pick up my phone. Have tried to unpair the phone to pair it again, but the car simply won't turn its Bluetooth on.

Menu screen shows it has my phone registered but not visible and all the options on the car's screen are greyed out.

Nothing wrong with Bluetooth on my phone  - baffled.

Do a reset of the unit?

For the ignorant viewer, how is this done? Will I lose all my settings?

Thanks in advance

Some developments.

Not a matter of un-pairing and re-pairing as the functionality is greyed out. Still seems to recognise the phone, but won't connect.

And this morning, the development was that the touch-screen was totally blacked out. Turned on, no display on any of the functions. Radio played, so presume it was functioning, but no life in the display.

Booked it in to the Service Dept (for tomorrow). Came out at lunchtime, turned it on and it was working. But its clearly going to be an intermittent fault, so I'd better get it looked at.

Oddly enough, I wondered from the off whether I'd got a dodgy unit. About a week into ownership, I was driving home one night when the Nav suddenly pulled up a map of Woflsburg and showed me driving on something or other Strasse. As I was in Northern Ireland at the time (!) I assumed that the car was just a little homesick - but it did make me think that I'm going to have probs with the unit.

No, the odd glimpse of ze fatherland is something you see from time to time.

It probably is something going wrong, but not fatally :)

They are funny devices though, some very strange things can and do happen from time to time. Remember its a whole (unix) computer but one that gives you even less information and ability to fix stuff than an Apple product...

The glitch with wolfsburg is easy to repeat.

Set a destination for the sat nav to guide you to. Move the map with your finger and then select a route, it'll move to Wolfsburg until you click the follow car icon.

Hi,

I have just had my MIB replaced under warranty at a cost of £5,000+.  If you unit is faulty then you need to start documenting it with dates and preferably photo's.  Mine was a nav issue which it had me going via fields etc more than once and the gps used to freeze.  Without my photo's to show the master tech I think my problem would still be on going as they have to get permission to change such an expensive item, and won't without some kind of evidence.  The touch screen is linked via fibre optic purely to display so any issues will be with MIB in the glovebox.

Thanks all

Left it into dealer today. Picked it up to be told that they hadn't come across it before but on checking with  VW UK that they acknowledged its a software problem and should have a "fix" in a few days.

So another trip to dealer next week, but at least it's been logged.
