Hey guys,
So my auto choke isn't kicking in on my Mk2 Golf GL 1.8 when I turn the ignition on, which means sitting there for 5 minutes or so with my foot down is a must, otherwise the car will simply stall.
I see a lot of threads and videos regarding the Pierburg 2E2 carb, but not so much on the 2E. Are there any main differences between the two? I know my carb doesn't have the choke pull down unit on the front or neither is their any vacuum reservoir connected to the carb in any way... As neither came fitted when I bought the car last year, are they essential for this carb or not needed?
I've been able to adjust the fast idle speed using the 3/4 point (I think it's called), but the automatic choke not kicking in is the real issue for me.
I've had the carb off completely, changed all the vacuum lines, cleaned it up, warmed up the wax stat (very stiff) contemplated throwing the whole thing in the bin and purchasing a weber, but decided to throw the pierburg back on and get to work.
So, any idea how to adjust the choke settings at all? Is it possible to buy a choke pull down unit to fit this carb, or will it simply not fit?
Here are some pics of the carb...
