Looking great Bec, I too have just changed to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (no S version available in 18") after a long time on other tyres (Last 70k miles on Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric on the Golf and another 20k on the Alfa I had before) Only done about 10 miles so no real impressions yet but looking forward to finding out!

Wish I was closer to Lepsons!

Cheers Dan.  Be really good to hear how you find the PS4 tyre on your mk6 and how they compare to the outgoing Goodyears, which themselves have a great rep.

You aren't too far from Milton Keynes Dan - Pristine Wheels are a top notch wheel place there.

Is there a big difference between the Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4S?
I have a GTI winging it's way to me at the moment with 18" rims, so I guess 4S is not an option.

Do not quote me on this...

The PS4 is a replacement for the PS3. It is a mainstream performance tyre and should wear well.

The PS4 S is a replacement for the Pilot Super Sport. My guess is - 5% better performance, but will likely cost 50% more and not last as long.

Hmmm... I think I have answered my own question... going to order some Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres soon

That's a fair endorsement of them. My last car came with 5p's on them and I liked them but then changed to Pirelli P Zeros and I found the ride to be much better on the P Zeros but the grip wasn't as good as the Conti's but they were quieter.

I then went to Cup 2's and that was rather different, in a good way.

  There you go, you are a genius!     Do yourself a massive favour and ditch the Bridgestones sooner rather than later, and get the PS4 and enjoy some good rubber now.

What's the sidewall protection like with the PS4S Rebecca? I saw a brand new R in the dealers last week on Pirellis and they'd no sidewall protection! The prets were really sticking out proud of the tyres.

I think I'll be sticking with the Bridgestones for a bit, spending enough money for the time being.
Based on most people's comments, I will probably replace them with Michelin PS4 or Pirelli PZero when the time comes.
Sorry for dragging this off topic with a tyre discussion!

Rubbish Joe, worse than with the Conti 5Ps (without rim protector), BUT, that all goes out the window when you drive on them.  I'll start a Lepsons refurb fund going.

I'll get a pic to try and show the rim protection (lack of) in a min.

Joe, here's some pics taken as best I can to show how much sidewall projects from the Pret. Not a lot.

Been out out again in the car all morning and went on a few roads that are notable for their roughness, including a shocking level crossing which used to make me cringe going over it on the Contis even at snail speed - big difference with the PS4S. These tyres are considerably more absorbent and comfortable, but not in the way that DCC Comfort setting feels (which I hate).  So it's like you have the firm suspension setup but with a non wallowy comfort.  Best of both worlds.  I've tried them now on Sport and Normal DCC settings and great in both.  Superlative braking too. Did a few sudden braking tests and cornering braking tests and no messing about there, that's for sure!
