It was really good to see this thread go up top as was great to read the out of the box review from someone who has now driving it for many miles and likely still feels the same, so it was quite reassuring as the long wait sometimes casts doubt on the decision IE: should have been more sensible and gone GTD again or GTI.

But feeling reassured again that have something coming that you have to experience at least once.

Thanks.  I have every intention of writing an update review in this thread very soon (just need to find time), but you are right, it wouldn't be very different from my initial review, as on the whole I do feel the same and my opinion of the car is largely unchanged, apart from the issue I felt about the lazy throttle which the pedal box sorted.  But I'd like to do an update, as a lot has happened in my year of R ownership - some good - nice little mods etc, and some of it not very good - damage by others.  Yet I love it more than ever!

It is hard to lose sight of it when you have a long wait, but the car is worth it, and I hope you enjoy your R as much as I am mine, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts when you finally get it.

Given I'm about to take delivery of my second MK7 I'm hoping my sentiments and expectations are as you have found.

My thoughts on my out going GTD given the ups and downs are th same in that it's had its issues but great all round car. Could do with more power but good mile cruncher and comfortable to boot.

I'm hoping the R is similar in terms of its comfort but with the extra power and driving fun with less economy.

I take delivery tomorrow and will look to get a drive out to the gym in the evening

Anyway...  Here's some evening pics of them..

At dusk

I did a 3-point turn in front of a nice black (parked) Cayanne this morning - noticed how yellow the cornering lights are against the xenons in the reflection, nice little mod.

I tried pressed metal plates and they don't look right on the mk7 to my eyes.
I much prefer my plastic plates.
