I'm not keen on the R in red at all, and that's from someone who really liked the look of their TR GTD.

I'm not keen on the non performance Golfs on TR either. It had to be Lapiz or DBP for me, but I do like Blue cars after previously having a Rising Blue Scirocco and a string of DBP VWs.
Colour choice is the single most subjective thing on a car, period.
I think Lapiz being exclusive to the R makes it more prevalent and a lot of people do love blue

Having been behind three R's this week  I've had a re-think in regards to my rather indifferent views in the past.
I now know that it's not the R that I'm not keen on, it's Lapiz blue
The three R's I saw were white, red and black and they all looked great to me.
I know plenty of people love Lapiz but I think I just hate blue cars.

I know exactly what you mean.  I've never been a blue car person but despite that I did have Lapiz as my second choice.  I love the R in Tornado Red (unlike the Mk6 R which really didn't suit red), but again am not a red car person either, lol.  I do think the Limestone Grey looks very good on the R in the flesh, a head turner.  Course Carbon Grey would have been my second choice (maybe the first) but not an option.   All things considered I like the DBP.  Reflex Silver is also a great colour for the R.
Is tungsten not an option on the R ?
If not, VW have certainly sold the car short as far as colour choice goes.
Off topic but I need to get it off my chest....one of my customers has just bought a new RS3 and it is seriously hideous!!
It is a sh!tty looking orange colour with dark tinted glass and alloy wheels that protrude about 10mm from the tyre.
It also has the completely pointless aluminium look mirrors that clash with everything.
Just thought I'd mention it

No, Tungsten is not an R option.  Can never decide if I like that colour anyway.

So you like the RS3 then?   Last time I had a look at them wasn't enamoured with the looks at all.   Thanks for mentioning it, makes me like the R even more.

I like it on a Focus.
But would I buy one?

I quite like the look of the RS3 too, and I love the idea of a 5 pot.
But would I buy one?

I seem to be stuck with boring Golfs!

My wife's A3 S line in Missano Red looks stunning, far better looking than the RS3.
I didn't tell my customer that though

No, Tungsten is not an R option.  Can never decide if I like that colour anyway.

I only like Tungsten when the lighting makes it not look like Tungsten - those occasions when it looks the colour of Mercury (a dark silvery grey), when it looks like metallic greige it's a definite no.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Yeah I'd agree with that, Tungsten at it's best when mercurial in colour.

There's no accounting for taste with some folk but I'd take an RS3 over an R any day of the week
